Indiana Team Nutrition makes National Nutrition Month® resources available through a new online tool for schools

The Learning Connection

The Indiana Department of Education has created a new online tool for school professionals, parents, and students called The Learning Connection. Through The Learning Connection, the Department provides student-level data to Indiana classrooms. The Learning Connection also supports professional collaboration between educators across schools and corporations and provides standards-based instruction tools, assessment tools and access to digital content.

One of the ways The Learning Connection supports collaboration is by allowing members to create and join groups revolving around professional interests. The Learning Connection refers to these groups as “communities.”

National Nutrition Month®

Indiana Team Nutrition would like to invite you to join our community-National Nutrition Month®! This community is open to teachers, administrators, and food service. Our community offers a calendar full of ideas to help you celebrate National Nutrition Month® (March) including highlights from Action For Healthy Kids’ Game On! The Ultimate Wellness Challenge. The community will also host a classroom Fruit and Vegetable Challenge. The classroom with the highest average fruit and vegetable intake will receive a special visit from the Power Panther (USDA’s Eat Smart. Play Hard. Campaign spokes character) to deliver the Fruit and Veggie Super-School Award. The local media will also be invited to cover the winning classroom’s success story.

Please Note (as shown below): When registering, administrators and food service employees will select Educator. When you are asked if you have a registration code, you will select no unless your school or corporation has given you one.

Once you have completed registration and are able to log in, you may join or create communities. To join the National Nutrition Month® community, click on the Contacts and Communities button in the top right of your screen. Then select Find a Community and enter National Nutrition Month as your keywords. Once you have joined this community you will find information for the Fruit and Veggie Challenge under the Files tab and National Nutrition Month® ideas under the month of March on the calendar.
